Dr.
Maffet attended the University of Mississippi graduating summa cum laude in
1985. He then moved to Houston for medical school at Baylor College of
Medicine. A residency in orthopedic surgery followed also at Baylor. Dr.
Maffet then was selected for a fellowship in sports medicine at the
Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
After completion of his fellowship in 1995, he returned to Houston to join
the physicians of the Baylor Sports Medicine Institute. He has a faculty
appointment at Baylor as a clinical assistant professor and is involved in
the training of orthopedic residents and fellows.
Dr. Maffet is very interested in the care of athletes. His surgical
expertise centers around the arthroscopic surgical repair of knee and
shoulder injuries. He has published articles and chapters about arthroscopic
shoulder pathology and repair, and about the biomechanics of the windmill
softball pitch. He presently is very involved as team physician for the
Houston Comets, Houston Thunderbears arena football team, and the sports
programs at Houston Baptist University.
Dr. Mark Maffet is a sports medicine specialist within the field of
orthopedic surgery. He practices out of 3 offices located in the Medical
Center and the west side of Houston. He and his office staff strive to
help you through your orthopedic injury with a combination of cutting
edge knowledge and technology with a personal touch.
